Elegance dB7 / dB7-S
Introduction
With a full pallet of different kinds of technological improvements and detailed knowledge, the Elegance dB7 / dB7-S has been created as a renewed Dutch masterpiece.
The Elegance dB7 / dB7-S is known as the successor of the Ceramique 3.2 FE, which was introduced in 1998. The 3.2 FE has been improved in many detailed fields, including the drivers, connectors and internal cabling. Due to the compact size of the Elegance dB7 / dB7-S, the bass produced is even more impressive. Combining these technological improvements with an elegant design and detailed trimmings, makes the dB7 / dB7-S easily blend in every living room.
When there is an -S included at the end of the model name, a Signature treatment is applied. This treatment refers to cabinet and driver upgrades. Curious what this treatment is?
"S" for "Signature"
Internal signature treatment
Enhanced damping: The acoustical damping of the cabinet is enhanced to better absorb all energy trapped inside the loudspeaker in a wide frequency range.
Enhanced internal wiring: The cross-sectional conductive area of the internal wiring is increased to have a more refined signal transmission between the crossover and the drivers.
Vibration-reducing compound: The crossover and bas pipe on the back plate of the Elegance are treated with a special compound to bring mechanical vibration to an absolute minimum.
Detachable grill
One of the many redesigned parts of the Elegance is the grill of the dB7. This new improved grill is made detachable by embedded magnets to really have the freedom to adapt the Elegance dB7 to your own style. With grill, the Elegance gives an elegant and luxury feeling, where the dB7 without grill shows the beauty of the composite drivers without actual showing that a grill could be attached. Therefore the Elegance dB7 can easily blend in both contemporary as well as modern interiors.
Spike Disk Suspension Stand
The Spike Disk Suspension System Stand (SDSS-stand) has especially been designed for the Elegance Collection. The SDSS-stand absorbs resonances and works as a mechanical grounding system. The beautiful stand is made of composite material with a black finish and accentuated by a chrome disk and top cover.
New technological insights changed the use of the characteristic Ceramique drivers to the use of the Kharma Composite Drivers with carbon fibre. The effect of this innovation combined with the pure Beryllium tweeter is very clearly audible in every listening session. Combined with impeccable surface finish, anodized aluminium trimmings and subtle chrome accents make the Elegance Collection ready to define a new standard in the coming decade.
Elegance drivers
There are two types of drivers used in the Elegance Collection. The Kharma Composite driver for the standard Elegance loudspeakers and the Kharma Omega-7 driver for the Elegance Signatures. All resulting in a very special Dutch Masterpiece.
Kharma Composite Driver
The heart of the Elegance Standard loudspeaker is formed by the Kharma Composite driver which is equipped with a cone technology developed by Kharma and has a patented linear magnet motor drive system. It consists of ultra high-tech rocket science/formula 1 based fibres created into a setting with optimised behaviour for the purpose. Finite element analysis with advanced computer systems have leaded to optimised cone- shapes with a near perfect behavior for the drivers.
Kharma Omega-7 Driver
The midrange of the Elegance Signature loudspeaker is formed by our in-house developed Kharma Omega 7 driver, where the number is referring to the 7-inch size of this carbon based driver. The cone technology used for the Omega 7 driver is based on Ultra High Modulus carbon fibres, which is the best fibre available on the globe today. The use of these ultra stiff carbon fibres and an unique resin displaces the break-up frequencies of the cone, in comparison with a standard cone material, to a whole other level. In comparison with the Kharma Composite driver, an even more refined level of excellence is achieved. These increased break-up frequencies ensures the cone is free from almost all resonances in the intended frequency range for this midrange driver. Moreover, the cone shape is optimized with a finite element analysis to utilize the full potential of the carbon material. This combination of the best carbon fibre and an optimized cone shape has resulted in a near perfect behaviour for the Kharma Omega 7 driver. This upgrade of the driver is the only upgrade that also changes the appearance of the speaker. The other upgrades are only audible because of their internal appliance.
Pure Beryllium tweeter
The effect of this innovation combined with the development of a pure Beryllium tweeter is very clearly audible in even a short listening session. Ultra high resolution in the midrange depicting many layers and sound colours like in excellent wines, where the complexity of the whole history of making the wine, can be tasted in a moment. It is like the music is coming from an inner space with an infinite number of layering.
Elegance Cabinets
The shape of the cabinets of the Elegance series has been unchanged with respect to its predecessor, the Ceramique series, because the shape is fully functional to the way the sound develops from the loudspeakers. This is a result of the unique polygonal shaped cabinet for optimum phase behavior and minimum group time-delay.
Besides, the cabinet is made of 35 mm MDF to increase the neutrality of the cabinet and is equipped with advanced acoustic damping materials to absorb the energy in a wide frequency range. The beauty of the Elegance Collection in shown by the many small details of the cabinet and internal treatment.
The Elegance dB11-S is build with the KBPL (Kharma Bullet Proof Laminate) cabinet technology, which is very high pressure laminate treated with a special coating. The KBPL increases rigidity compared to techniques used in the past, while the coating and dampening eliminates the last traces of resonance. In 2014 this technology has been rewarded with the CES Design and Innovations Award.
Cabinet colors
A Kharma product should not only have an unbelievable refined sound, but should also have an astonishing finish to compete with the musicality of the system. Therefore Kharma has developed two programs to be able to fulfill all levels of customization.
Primary Stock Program
This program has been targeted as to create the shortest possible delivery time for the official Kharma products. This program is therefore based on the most popular Kharma finishes, Aubergine and Piano Black.
Kharma Optionary Program
The visual tuning in the Optionary Program will give the customer the opportunity to choose between special selected Kharma colours. These colours have a higher level of customization and therefore the delivery time is different than a Stock Program colour.
